PADANZA is a training method that encourages players to ‘dance’ with the ball to the beat of music.
‘KICK TO THE BEAT’.
It encourages them to touch the football, become familiar with it, developing confidence in possession. Familiarity and confidence with the ball is the basic foundation from which players develop all other skills.
Young players should be encouraged to explore with the football. They should be encouraged to find out what they are able to do with the ball at their feet. The ball increasingly feels like a part of them, and they know how and when to move their body to get the ball to do what they want it to do. Above all, for any sport at a young age, it’s fun!!
The enjoyment should never be taken out of sport at any age and any level. With PADANZA, the element of fun transcends all ages and expertise in football. There is just a natural enjoyment and satisfaction of moving yourself in time to music you love. When you do that with a football at your feet, the results can only be positive.
Furthermore, there is the potential benefit that can be derived by means of constructive visualisation that occurs when a young player is able to associate performing football skills to music that they like. So outside of the training environment, when the individual is merely listening to such rhythmic music, subconsciously, the mind is in a state of performing the motor skills that they have learnt to associate with such music.
Nothing replaces top class coaching. Yet, such training methods enable players to develop elementary and even advanced skills independent of coaches.
